You can get paid to shop!
By stacking and using multiple apps it is possible to get paid to buy things that you use in your daily life. For example, I recently bought a jar of Jif Peanut Butter. The jar was on sale for $2.65. But, I got paid $7.08 to buy this jar of peanut butter.
Let me break down how this transaction transpired and how you can do the same thing-
Step One – I check Mobee every day for opportunities to do a “secret shop.” On the day of this transaction, I saw a “secret shop” not far from me.
The shop took me about 10 minutes, however this particular shop requires that I make a $1.00 purchase. So, I have to make a small investment to trigger my payment. I check the other apps to see if I can then purchase something and stack my rebates (Steps 2 and 3).
I see that Jif Peanut Butter is in one other app, so I go ahead and make the purchase of the Jif Peanut Butter, fulfilling my purchase requirement for Mobee.
My secret shop the generates the following profits:
- $5.00 for completing the secret shop.
- $1.00 for travelling to this shop.
- $0.25 for having never shopped this store before.
A total of $6.25 for this particular shop.
Step Two – I check my Shopkick App and I see that Jif Peanut Butter has two “Kick” rebates attached to it. The store I am shopping in sells Jif Peanut Butter. In addition, Shopkick is offering “Kicks” for Smucker’s Jelly, which is right next to the Jif Peanut Butter. I have already decided to purchase the peanut butter for Step One, spending $2.65. But, I have three sets of rewards here that I am going to collect:
- I scan the barcode for the Jif Peanut Butter and receive 30 kicks.
- I also scan the Smucker’s Jelly and receive 30 kicks.
- I purchase the Jif Peanut Butter and receive 300 kicks.
These three actions generate 360 kicks, a value of about $0.36.
Step Three – I check my Ibotta app and I see that Dollar General has an “Any Item” rebate worth $.25. So I know that buy buying the peanut butter, I am at least going to get $.25 through Ibotta:
- Ibotta receipt rebate generates, $0.25.
I upload my receipt and receive my $0.25.
Step Four – I scan and upload my receipt into Receipt Hog. Receipt hog awards me the following:
- 5 coins. 1,000 coins is the equivalent of $5.00. So, not a significant reward, but it helps.
- 1 sweepstakes entry.
Step Five – I scan and upload my receipt into Fetch Rewards. Fetch Rewards me the following:
- 25 points. For Fetch Rewards, every 1,000 points is equal to $1.00. So, again not a significant reward, but it helps out.
Step Five – As I am leaving the store I noticed a “Help Wanted” sign. I activate the Job Spotter app and take a photo of the help wanted sign and the front of the building. Job Spotter rewards me with the following:
- $0.22.
My overall yield for my Jif Peanut Butter transaction:

- I spent $2.65 + $0.13 tax for a total of $2.78.
- I earned $7.08. (Mobee, Shopkick, Job Spotter and Ibotta).
- A profit of $4.30.
Did I need the Jif Peanut Butter? Not really. Am I eating the Jif Peanut Butter? You bet I am!
